The Malala mural is painted in the Magnolia North neighborhood of the city of Opa-Locka. This project was proposed as part of the neighborhood recovery initiative. A quote from Nobel Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai is painted next to the 20' by 100' to emphasize the importance of education in this tough neighborhood.
